Now right off the back, as you can see, this is a hanging style rack. So if you're looking a way of getting those carbon frame bikes on the road with you, this won't be an option as we do have frame contact, three points, in fact, that will start warping and deteriorating that carbon frame. more

Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport- Video
Hey, everybody. Welcome to etrailer.com, I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Platform Rack on our 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Now, this can be a pretty awesome way of getting our bikes up onto our car with us. As you can see, we are going to have a wheel tire hold pattern here, so if you're needing a way of transporting your carbon frame bikes, this can be a great option, as we aren't getting any kind of frame contact, so we won't be damaging this frame, warping it, deteriorating it as we go down the road. Now with it being a tire hold as well, we aren't going to have any issues with the women bikes, step-through bikes or even those bikes, as we don't have that middle attachment, so it completely eliminates our need for those bike adapter bars. So, pretty obvious solutions over, or obvious advantages over those hanging styles as you can see, and with a 60 pound weight capacity, we are going to get most of our bikes up on here, I can even see us getting most of our electric bikes up here, just make sure we are removing those battery packs before we get them loaded, so we're not damaging our rack or our bikes as we get down the road. more

Now right away, if you're a family oriented biker this is gonna be a great option for you. Now with a lot of these hanging styles we start running into problems of actually making you know, some of those kiddo bikes work maybe those step throughs, and those wind bikes, might have a bit of a problem actually using these three point contact system. However, with the Curt Premium, as you can see we are getting a contour, two-arm support system. So with the back in here, we are gonna get two spots for some of those more hard to access bikes up on our rack. more

Hi everyone! It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we are looking at our Yakima BackRoad four bike hanging style rack here on our 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. This is a great bike rack if you are looking for something that gives you a little extra clearance between your bikes and you're worried about the sway when you are on the road. So, the way our bike is mounted to this bike rack is we have one, two zip strips on the top frame, and then another one here at the bottom that works as our anti-sway cradle. I really like this one because it has a narrow fit, so it really takes out that sway. So when you want to take it off, you start down there at that third cradle, just pull that zip strip out, press those buttons, pull that strip out like that. So that's one, two and three. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer.com and today we are looking at our Rocky Mounts monorail single bike rack here on our 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. This is an awesome bike rack if you are looking for something that gives you a little extra ground clearance, as well as has that weight capacity for your heavy electric bikes or the ability to carry carbon frame bikes. One of its features is that it can tilt away. To do so there's this blue lever right over here, pull on that, and then that allows you to tilt it down and you will want to do this if you want to access your hatch. Right over here you can see how there's plenty of space between the door and the handlebars, allowing you to get into your trunk, maybe grab your bags, your water, everything you need without having to take your bike rack off. To bring it back into position, you just push and it snaps into place. more

Now this is a really nice bike rack, if you are looking for something that has all the nice premium features as well as how it can tilt away with our Outlander, and this one's extra special since it has a bike repair stand. One of its features is that it can tilt away, and, to do so, you pull on this lever and that drops down. And this allows you to open your rear door on your car. So as you can see with our rear door, there's plenty of clearance between the door and the bike, allowing us to get in there, maybe grab your helmets or your bags or your water, all without taking your bike off. To get it back into position you can just lift it up here and it snaps into place. more

With a capacity for four bikes, this does add a little bit of length to the back of your vehicle. With it tilted down, you can see how you can access your hatch. There's plenty of space between our door and our bike allowing us to get into our rear cargo area, maybe grab our bike helmets or our bike bags, without having to remove the bike completely. more

So right off the bat, I'll say this is probably one of my favorite platform style bike racks. I think it looks really cool, especially on the Outlander. And it's going to be super easy to use.With that being said, one of the things that really separates this rack from some of the other platform style racks is these wheel hooks here. Most platform style racks only have one wheel hook and then a small strap or something like that here at the back. With a hook on each end of the bike, it's going to be really secure, and it's going to work especially well with those carbon fiber bikes. more

Rola Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander- Video

Today on our 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander, we're going to be taking a look at the Rola TX-102 Tilting Bike Rack.Now, this is going to be able to hold a total of two bikes, and it's going to secure our bike down in three spots. We're going to have two straps here on the top two. We're also going to have a strap down here, which will act as an anti-sway strap to help eliminate any side to side movement. Now, let's go ahead and take our bike off the rack, that way we can take a better look at it. To do that, we'll just pull down on our straps, unseat them from the clips, then we're able to lift our bike off.The rack can be tilted back to allow us to have full access to our hatch. more

Speaker 1: Today on my 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, we're gonna be testing the Yakima Ridgeback two bike rack for inch and 1/4 and two inch hitches. Part number Y02457.We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look here. Starting out with the arms, at both ends of the arms here, we're gonna have the patented Yakima bottle openers with our cradles. They're gonna be stationary meaning they can not move back and forth or side to side, however they do have this super cushioned material here and that's gonna help protect your bike's frame once it's being installed, so it doesn't get any scratches on it.There's also padding on the zip strips, excuse me, to help with that as well. How's it's gonna grip your bike, will have three points of contact. We'll have two zip strips up at the top and one off to the side and that's gonna serve as an anti sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike to bike contact.Now, with the anti sway cradle, you can push this up and out of the way like I have it here and that's gonna help loading and unloading the bike's, much easier for you, so you don't have to shimmy back and forth trying to get around things.Let's go ahead and take the bike off. more

There's one thing you have to first. We're going to remove this snap pin up at the front here. Then we'll come up to the front and with this lever that you simply push down while holding onto the bike rack and let it lower down.That's pretty unique with a lot of these because most platform style racks will have these switches that are up closer towards the front. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Pro XTB two-bike platform rack for 2" hitches, Part Number TH9034XT. We already have it installed on our vehicle here and we have a bike installed as well. Let's go ahead and take a closer look at it.This is much more of a high end platform style bike rack in that when it tilts away with both bikes attached to get rear hatch access you don't have to reach forward and grab a handle or pull out a pin while holding onto the bike rack and trying to juggle everything at once. Instead, we have this handle at the front where you can just as easily come back here, give it support if need be, but pull it towards you and let it tilt forward.Now we have full hatch access to get whatever we need and plenty of space in between the bike rack and the bumper to do so as well. Also, there's more than enough space in between our hatch and the actual handlebars, so that's not going to be an issue at all either. To lift it back into its original position, it's just as easy. more

Speaker 1: So today in our 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, we're going to be test fitting the RockyMounts BackStage two bar platform rack for two inch hitches. Part number RKY10002. We have a bike installed on the rack, and this is a pretty unique bike rack when it comes to platform styles, because it has two really big functions about it. Like most platform styles, this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached to gain rear hatch access. And to do that, they have this blue handle at the end, and you hold onto the bike rack, release that and let it come towards you. That's pretty nice, because most of the other platform style racks will have either the pins or switches up towards the front, which can be kind of easy, or 'scuse me, which can be kind of hard to get to, because you have two bikes attached and you have to reach through them.So pulling that lever towards us, and then I get it to come towards us. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, we're going to be test fitting the Inno Aero Light QM two bike platform rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number INH330.We are going to have a bike installed on our rack here, so let's go ahead and take a closer look. This is a pretty unique design when it comes to platform style racks. Instead of gripping it by the frame or by the hook, it actually grips it by the side frame here, so this can fit a wide variety of bikes. Right now we have a road bike on here, but this will also work with mountain bikes, alternate frame bikes and most kids bikes as well.The main post here, by going to this level here, are adjustable for different size bikes, and it ratchets back down. The wheel cradles are also adjustable back and forth, by loosening or tightening the knobs on the bottom here. This is to accommodate bikes of different sizes, but also to help out with loading.Like most platform style racks, this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached. more

Part number Y02481.We have a bike installed on a rack. Let's take a closer look here.And this is pretty much a bare bones basic rack for the one person who wants to take their bike from point A to point B. Right now, we have a road bike on it but this will also work with mountain bikes, most kid's bikes, alternate frame bikes and fat bikes with a tire width up to 5" wide.This is a wheel mount carrier. Meaning it grips it by the wheel mount here and then we'll also have a rear strap back here. Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Four Timer, four bike platform rack, for 2" hitches, part number Y02469. We already have a bike installed on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look.Like most platform racks, this can tilt away from the vehicle, with all four bikes still attached. This can get pretty heavy, depending the bike configuration. You may need an extra set of hands to help you out with this. What we're going to do is, we're going to lift up slightly on the bike rack, remove the gray pin on the side here and pull out this red pin and let the bike rack come towards us.This is going to be pretty tight, or at least it's going to look that way, but we still have full hatch access to get what we need, and there's more than enough space in between the handlebars and the hatch itself where that's not going to be an issue.To put it back in it's original position, we'll lift up 'til you hear the click. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ts02g- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Transfer 2-bike platform rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number TS02G. We have a bike already installed on our rack so let's go ahead and take a closer look here.Like most platform-style racks, this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached. To do that, it's a little different. We have this foot pedal at the front, so while holding onto the bike rack you just push down and let it come towards you. That's a lot easier than most bike racks where you would have to reach through both of them to get to either a handle or a pin that you have to pull out. With that done, we have full hatch access to get what we need, and there's plenty of space in between the handlebars and the hatch itself where that clearance won't be an issue. more

Let's take a closer look here. We'll start with the arms. On the ends we're going to have this reflective material, which is going to assist with better visibility at night. The cradles can be adjusted back and forth and be adjusted side to side to accommodate different size bikes, and this is going to hold your bike at three points. We're going to have two rubber straps up at the top, then off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike-to-bike contact. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, we're going to be test fitting the Malone Hanger 3 Bike Rack for inch and a quarter and two-inch hitches, part number MPG 2127. We already have a bike on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look here. Starting with the ends of our arms, we're going to have two reflective materials here at the ends to provide better visibility at night. The cradles are adjustable back and forth by loosening or tightening the screws back here. And they also are padded so once you set your bike into place, the frame of it's not going to get scratched up or anything like that because of that padding.It does come with an integrated cable lock and the mast that'll wrap around your front-most bike and attach to this point here and lock into place. more

However, to release it, it does have this lever up at the front, which is a lot more convenient, because most other platform racks will have either the latch, or a pin or something up towards the front where you have to reach through both bikes to get to it. And that can be a little difficult.With this, we have this lever that you hold onto the bike rack, pull towards you, and let it come forward. more

It doesn't tilt away or it doesn't fold up, but it is capable of holding up to two bikes on the rear of your vehicle. It does have this nice raised shank here, so it's not going to have an issue of clearance between your bike rack and the ground.It'll hold your bike at three points, will have a frame hook up at the top. The frame hook is padded. more

Today on our 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander we're doing a test fit of the Thule Roadway hanging-style 2kbr, part number TH912XTR. Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you how we do that. We've got two cradles in place with three straps, two on our frame and one as our anti-sway strap int back. We're going to start by pulling down and lifting up to release those. Then we'll be able to pull our bike off and set it off to the side. With that out of the way we'll take a few measurements. more
